Dr. P and Sarah talk about selecting repertoire for students versus allowing them to pick their own repertoire but all in an effort to hope that the student will give a genuine, honest, true performance and say something. Dr. P was encouraged by a refreshing week of psychoacoustics in graduate ped. Of course, WandaVision episode 4, as Marvel's gift to MCU nerd fans everywhere continues.

Spring semester is off and running and Dr. P realized he mentions all these historic voice pedagogy authors out of context, so this spring he set up Grad Ped 1 to start with an overview of voice pedagogy history. Also we review Wanda Vision episodes 1-3.

Happy New Year! #VocalFam Ian Howell, Kayla Gautereaux, Chadley Ballentyne, and Joshua Glasner join Sarah and Dr. P for a VocalFri event: Teaching Online 2.0.  Our Teaching Online episode is now sorely out of date, despite being only 10 months old, so the full Distributed Music Research Team is back for the first time since their Viral Video Voice Conferencing episode in April.  In the wake of 2020 we reflect back on surprises from technological developments we've curated. We share some thoughts about Ian's "What Happens Next" essay, and we discuss our thoughts on what excites us about the possibilities for teaching, rehearsing, and performing online now and into the future. VocalFri's December Plural Publishing author spotlight features superstar authors Wendy D. LeBorgne and Marci Daniels Rosenberg to tell us about their book The Vocal Athlete.  Now in it's 2nd edition, TVA is a landmark voice pedagogy text, that was the first of its kind to fully incorporate contemporary and musical theater singing pedagogy alongside classical voice pedagogy in a fully evidence based manner. This is definitely a MUST LISTEN!
